“The GWU2X family enables conversion between USB and four peripheral interfaces: JTAG, SPI, I2C and GPIO; while the GWU2U series is suitable for conversion between USB and UART,” according to distributor Rutronik, which is stocking the parts. “This provides Gowin with a viable solution to address common interface bridging issues in a variety of consumer, automotive, industrial and communications markets, such as debug on the evaluation kits or multi-protocol converters.”

I2C, SPI and JTAG host interfaces are supported with independent clock adjustment and receive buffer, and can be used to program Gowin’s FPGA portfolio.

UART also gets a receive buffer and independent adjustment.

The aim is to provide simple and programming-free communication through integrated virtual com port (VCP) OS drivers. “Windows drivers and an API in C/C++ ensure optimal use with host devices,” added Rutronik.

With an independent I/O core supply, the UART version, GWU2U, supports 3.3V, 2.5V and
1.8V I/O standards.

Both series come in a 5 x 5 x 0.5mm QFN32.
