October 30, 2020 – Mouser Electronics, an authorized global distributor of Electronic components focused on new product introductions, is stocking the Laird Connectivity Sentrius™ MG100 Gateway today. Based on the Laird Connectivity Pinnacle 100 cellular modem, the gateway integrates long-range Bluetooth 5 connectivity and LTE-M/NB-IoT connectivity in this tiny Internet of Things (IoT) gateway.
The Laird Connectivity Sentrius MG100 Gateway, distributed by Mouser Electronics, captures data from Bluetooth 5-enabled sensors and transmits it to the cloud over a global low-power cellular data (LTE-M/NB-IoT) connection. The Laird Connectivity Pinnacle 100 cellular modem used in this product integrates the Nordic semiconductor nRF52840 system-on-chip (SoC) and Arm® Cortex®-M4F core for full Bluetooth 5 communication capabilities, while also providing LTE-M through the integrated Sierra Wireless HL7800 /NB-IoT connectivity, and applications can be developed directly on the microcontroller using the Zephyr real-time operating system (RTOS) for a compact hostless design. Currently, the MG100 gateway has passed regulatory approvals from the FCC, ISED, and CE, as well as cellular certifications from PTCRB, GCF, and AT&T, with more operator certifications to follow in the future.
At the same time, Mouser also listed the Laird Connectivity MG100 Wireless IoT Starter Kit, which includes a Sentrius MG100 gateway and three Sentrius BT510 sensors. The three sensors are housed in an innovative IP67-rated housing that reliably transmits sensor data wirelessly, even in harsh environments. Comprising the BT510 sensor is a multifunctional (temperature, motion/shock, and contact open/close) sensor platform based on Laird Connectivity’s proven long-range BL654 module. An ultra-low power product, the Sentrius BT510 requires only a single replaceable CR2477 coin cell battery to run for years with simple, intuitive maintenance.
The Sentrius MG100 Gateway and MG100 Wireless IoT Starter Kit are ideal for specific multi-protocol wireless connectivity IoT applications where long-range Bluetooth sensors are bridged directly to cellular networks without access to any local network infrastructure. Their target applications include cold chain transportation monitoring, long-distance battery-powered sensors, predictive maintenance work, and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).
