New ThermaWick Surface Mount Thermal Jumper Chip Resistors from Vishay Remove Heat from Electrically Isolated Components

The device can reduce component temperature by more than 25%, improve power handling capability or extend lifetime.

MALVERN, PA – April 7, 2020 – Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) announced the launch of ThermaWick THJP series of surface mount thermal jumper chip resistors. Vishay Dale thin-film devices enable designers to transfer heat from an electrically isolated device to a ground plane or general heat sink by providing a thermal path.

The recently released chip uses an aluminum nitride substrate with a thermal conductivity of up to 170 W/m°K, which reduces the temperature of connected devices by more than 25%, allowing designers to increase the power handling capabilities of these devices, or extend existing work. conditions, while maintaining electrical isolation of each device. The reliability of the overall circuit can be improved by avoiding thermal loading of adjacent devices.

The THJP family of devices has a capacity as low as 0.07 pF, making it an excellent choice for high frequency and thermal ladder applications. Thermal conductors are used in power supplies and converters, RF amplifiers, synthesizers, pin laser diodes, and filters for AMS, industrial and telecom applications.

Devices are available in six form factors from 0603 to 2512, with custom form factors available. The 0612 and 1225 frame sizes feature long edge terminations for improved thermal conductivity. Thermal jumper chip resistors are available with lead (Pb) and lead (Pb) free wrap terminations.

Device Specification Sheet:

ThermaWick THJP series thermal jumper chip resistors will provide samples and mass production in the first quarter of 2020, with a lead time of 6 weeks.
