What harm does the substation have? How far is the substation from the house?

Nowadays, when many people buy a new house, they will consider whether there is a substation around the community, and they are afraid that the substation will affect their health. So what is the safe distance between the substation and the residence? Below I will introduce it to you.

What are the dangers of substations?

Whether the substation will emit radiation and endanger the safety of the surrounding residents is a question that everyone is more concerned about.

The frequency of the power equipment in the common 220kV and 110kV substations is 50 Hz, which produces a very low frequency electromagnetic field, and it is impossible to transfer energy in space in the form of electromagnetic waves. main, not electromagnetic radiation.

In fact, we experience electromagnetic induction every winter, such as static electricity generated when taking off a sweater in a dry environment, and the energy of electromagnetic induction in substations is small, so the impact can be ignored.

However, living near the substation will still have some hazards.

The first is the lighting problem. For safety reasons, the substation is turned on 24 hours a day, and the surrounding residents may be affected by it.

Secondly, there is the problem of noise. Many residents may be overwhelmed by the sound of transformers running, the sound of large mechanical vehicles entering and leaving, and the imperfect noise reduction materials of substations. In this regard, some institutions are developing some materials and possibilities for noise reduction.

There are also reasons for operating safety. A machine running at high load may have an accident or even an explosion, but due to the open ground, the accident will be effectively suppressed. If you live around the substation, you can report any abnormal situation to the relevant departments as soon as possible.

How far should the substation be from the house?

At present, the state stipulates that the construction of power supply facilities above 100KV must pass the administrative license of the environmental protection department. Among them, the environmental protection inspection indicators mainly include four major contents: electric field, magnetic field, radio interference and noise.

To pass the environmental protection administrative license, the power supply facilities established in residential areas must meet these standards: the power frequency electric field strength does not exceed 4kV/m; the magnetic induction strength does not exceed 0.1 milliTesla; in terms of radio interference, the 110KV project does not If it exceeds 53 decibels, the 500KV project should not exceed 55 decibels; the noise impact should not exceed 55 decibels during the day and 45 decibels at night. As long as these indicators meet the standards, there are no strict requirements for the distance between related equipment and buildings in terms of environmental protection.

However, according to the environmental protection department, my country currently has certain requirements for the distance between equipment and buildings. For example, for general 10KV-35KV substations, the front is required to be more than 12 meters away from the residential house and the side is more than 8 meters; the construction of substations above 35KV requires that the front is more than 15 meters away from the residential building and the side is more than 12 meters; the box-type substation is more than 5 meters away from the residential building. .
